Let’s face it, many of us sit or stand for long periods of time while at work. Most of us also get two 15 minute breaks. Have you ever considered walking during that time? There are many benefits to walking during the work day. Here are just a few:
- De-stress. We know that exercise is good for us, but did you know that getting the blood pumping can calm your nerves and can help prevent burnout?
- It gives the brain a chance to rest. Your brain is working overtime and allowing it to ‘rest’ during a walk can boost productivity.
- Walking can improve your focus. Different sights and sounds will re-energize the brain and allow you to focus better when you return to work.
So, what do you do on your break? Maybe it’s time to consider getting up, changing your scenery, and re-energizing your body and mind. Grab a co-worker or two and get that blood pumping!
